Hue, Hanoi, Halong Bay

Don't have to much time to update so I'll let the pictures do most the talking...

Hue

While most of our time in Hue was geared toward selling the bike, we still had time to see the main sights.  And we managed to seel the bike for what we bought it for, yahoo! Above is a shot of the huge flag pole at the front of the Citadel, one of the main sites to see in Hue.  Below is a shot of Vasae wondering around inside.

We spent our second day in Hue visiting Ta Doc's tomb right outside the city.  The whole site is overgrown with trees and is surrounded by gardens so it was a very nice retreat from the crowded city...

And this is arguably some the best food we had while in Vietnam. We stumbled upon this place when headed out to the tombs and found ourselves returning again and again :) The little old lady who ran the place giggled every time we showed up.

Hanoi

Hanoi consisted of running around the market town, finding a place to get a painting reproduction for Vasae, figuring out which Halong Bay tour to take and wondering around this garden temple in the middle of the crowded city.

Halong Bay

Doing a tour of Halong Bay was one of our highlights of Vietnam so we were thrilled when it was finally time to go!  We had heard about some people being terribly ripped off so we hoped for the best when we did our research and finally settled on a hostel to book through...

The tour certainly did not disappoint as we had an absolute blast!  Our next 2 days and 3 nights were spent sailing around on a boat with an extremely nice crew, lovely fellow travelers, checking out caves, kayaking and swimming around.

We spent our last day and night on this private island, Monkey Beach, where we had our own little beach-side bungalows.  I kayaked around the island with a buddy while Vasae took it easy and read... such poor souls we are :)

Besides the fact that it was rainy and overcast basically the whole time, the trip was wonderful and no terrible rip-offs to boot!  The bay had an interesting feel to it with all the mist- sometimes it was hard to tell if the limestone islands coming out of the water were overlapping shadows or real...
