Who: Me and Vasae. We met in 2009 while studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a semester. We were randomly placed as roommates and have been best buddies ever since. There's absolutely no way to describe Vasae- she's quite literally the ying to my yang and I'm beyond fortunate to call her a close friend. In attempts to explain her I normally tell people that I save all her emails in a special folder in my inbox titled: "vasae/ my soul's progression." She's an amazing friend, a savvy traveler, a wonderful poet/ genius and a soul sista for life :)
What: a backpacking trip. I hope to thoughtfully, openly, and inquisitively experience as much as possible along the way.
Where: Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia
When: Start in Nepal in April and end in Indonesia in August. Vasae will go back to the states and I hope to find a job teaching English in one of the countries we visit that has a possible and community-based need for a teacher... we'll see about that when the time comes!
Why: How could this ever really be answered? But to attempt, I'll paraphrase Phil Cousineau: "Integral to the art of travel is... to break away for however long it takes to once again truly see the world around us. It's the art of re-imagining how we walk, talk, listen, see, hear, write, and draw as we ready for the journey of our soul's deep desire."
