Udaipur... james bond fans unite

Little did I know that when I was in India I would be hanging out in the same places as none other than Mr. James Bond...  We just went through a lovely lakeside town called Udaipur and for you Bond fans out there this is where Octopussy was filmed.  And they certainly don't let you forget it while you're there- almost every place plays it at night :)

Udaipur is beautiful and definitely another favorite for India.  We didn't have much time there but we saw a lot and loved every minute of it.  We checked out the amazing city palace (pictured above at night), walked around the markets (incredible textiles), got mahindi (henna) done in a tiny beauty parlor where no tourist has gone before, and enjoyed the wonderful company of the owner of our guest house.  We think we manged to find the nicest Indian in the country!  Johar was extremely nice, accommodating, fun, helpful, etc. throughout our stay- we loved our time in Udaipur because of him.  He took us around on his motorbike (so fun), took us to dinner, taught us how to cook curry (without swindling us), drove us up to a lookout at 5am to see sunrise over the lake, answered the 3 million questions we had about India and sincerely conversed with us- it was very much what we were looking for and it was wonderful.  We wish we could have spent more time in Udaipur but now is when we're really kicking it into gear for the last week or so in India...  And here we go!
